Las Flores Middle School

A California Distinguished School

Las Flores Middle School boasts a caring and nurturing staff that is dedicated to excellence, high achievement and promoting the well being of all students. LFMS is located in the foothills of the Saddleback Mountains in South Orange County and is one of thirteen middle schools in the Capistrano Unified School District. LFMS opened in September 1997 with a student body population of approximately of 1100.

Las Flores Middle School has been a California Distinguished School three times. Student learning and academic achievement is a priority at LFMS.

At Las Flores we are dedicated to high standards and our test scores reflect these expectations. As we continue to build on academic excellence, teachers meet weekly during our Articulation and Collaboration for Excellence time or “ACE” time to develop curriculum and discuss best teaching practices in addition to creating common assessments. Time has been dedicated to professional development for our teachers in order to best meet student learning expectations.

Our Performing Arts department is outstanding offering full courses in band, choir, and orchestra. Students at LFMS participate in Students Run Los Angeles (SRLA) and the Orange County Spelling Bee. LFMS is thrilled to have a fitness center complete with a weight room/cardio center and a fitness room offering classes in aerobics, yoga, as well as workout equipment that will help promote our goal to teach our students lifelong fitness.

Communication is important at LFMS.  Parents can access student homework, grades, and the school calendar through our School Loop web site. Technology is part of every student’s curriculum.

Students may learn the value of community service by participating in the PRIDE All-Stars program, Bears Take Pride Award program. By volunteering at school and in the community, maintaining good grades, and receiving outstanding citizenship grades, students receive recognition for their hard work and efforts by earning a Bears Take Pride Award.

LFMS prides itself on its high level of parental involvement. Our supportive PTSA works collaboratively with LFMS to provide funds and parental assistance to support our various programs such as Red Ribbon Week, Reflections, technology support and numerous Parent Education Nights.

We are proud of Las Flores Middle School and our Professional Learning Community. We look forward to working together with parents for the successful education of all children!
