The PRIDE  Stars Program is designed to provide you with opportunities to give, help, and serve. Our PRIDE Stars motto is “Serve with PRIDE, Lead with Confidence, and Inspire Others.” If this sounds like you, then please join us.

Students are to report at the normal school start time and go to their 1st period class for attendance.  An announcement will be made for all 8th graders to report to the amphitheater.  Any 8th grader not attending Knott's but in attendance at school will report directly to Mrs. Douglas up in the office.

We are scheduled to leave LFMS by 9:30 am and will return between 6 - 6:30 pm.  We are sheduled for pick up a the park at 5:45.

Students should plan on wearing their tie-dyed shirt tomorrow!  Sunscreen and a hat may be a good idea.  Also, plan on bringing money for food.

Students are discouraged from bringing large backpacks, so we can get through the security lines quickly and into the park.

Unless you have made prior arrangements with Mrs. Davis-Johnson, students will not be released early nor stay late at the park.

What is WEB?

Where Everybody Belongs (WEB) is a middle school transition program that welcomes incoming 6th graders and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their middle school experience. Built on the belief that students can help students succeed, 8th grade students are trained to be WEB leaders. As positive role models, WEB Leaders are mentors, motivators, leaders, and teachers who guide the 6th graders to discover what it takes to be successful during the transition to middle school and help facilitate 6th grade success.

Please complete the application by Wednesday, May 9th.  Any questions? Please see Ms. McDermott or Mrs. Vollebregt, the WEB Advisors.

Girls Inc is returning to Las Flores Middle School for a girls only small group. Girls Inc of Orange County is a wonderful organization that focuses on teaching middle and high school girls great skills while having fun and building sisterhood. Below is a link to a simple survey on what topics the girls/parents feel they would most enjoy and also if they would be interested in participating in the small group.

Click here for the Girls Group Survey Link

Here are some additional details about the small group:

What grade level is this group for?

Only 7th & 8th graders right now. Unfortunately, because of the lunch set up we are unable to have 6th graders in this group. We are looking into having a 6th grade girls group start soon though

When would the group meet?

On Mondays during 7th/8th grade lunch & PRIDE

How many weeks will the group run?

The group will be starting on Monday January 22 and end on March 19, 2018 for a total of 7 meetings.

How many girls can be in the group?

As many as want to be, the only part we ask is that group members come each week to gain the most out of the group experience and information.

What will the group cover?

Please check out the survey link for more details on what it will cover!

Do I have to agree now?

No, if you want to submit the survey there is no obligation to attend. You can also come on Monday January 22 and decide after if you no longer want to continue. No pressure to commit right away but it will be lots of fun!

I have more questions, who do I talk to?

Come see Mrs Goddard in the office or stop by the Girls Inc. Booth tomorrow during lunch

The theme at LFMS this year is “In Service to Others.”  PRIDE Stars is a way for all of our Bears to participate in this theme.

Research shows that students who are civically engaged at a young age are likely to remain active members of our democracy as adults. The PRIDE  Stars Program is designed to provide middle school students tangible opportunities to give, help, and serve. The purpose of this optional award program is to recognize students who demonstrate outstanding attendance, citizenship, scholarship, and service to our school and community.

Our PRIDE Stars motto is “Serve with PRIDE, Lead with Confidence, and Inspire Others.” The Kick Off Meeting will be held Tuesday, November 14th during both lunches as well as PRIDE time. All students are welcome! Please contact Mrs. Vollebregt if you have any questions. KDVollebregt@Capousd.org

Also, PRIDE Stars is looking for projects to assist with. If you have a need for volunteer help, please complete a PRIDE Stars Support Request.

Need information on PRIDE Stars? See the live links above, or visit our PRIDE Stars Web Page on Schoolloop. http://lfms.capousd.ca.schoolloop.com/PRIDESTARS

School Loop is school-specific, so if you are new to the school, and had an account at a different CUSD school, you will still need to register for an account again through the new school’s website.  The link is on the homepage of the school’s website.  You will need your Student Perm ID Number and an email address to complete this process.

School Loop is a different application to the Parent Portal.  It is available to middle and high school level parents and students only.   Parents are encouraged to use both applications.  Please refer to the Guidance webpage FAQ's for answers related to the difference between Parent Portal and School Loop.

The Parent Portal may be accessed at any time during the school year and parent and student accounts only need to be established once as they rollover with updated student data each year. Don’t have a portal account? Contact the school office for your child to request the information needed to create an account.

The Parent Portal is only accessible to parents of students in the current school year.  Information on obtaining transcripts for graduated students may be found on the CUSD website.

Please direct any additional questions to your school office.
