About Me

I am a graduate of the University of Southern California with a BS Business Administration - Accounting.  After several years as a Certified Public Accountant  and Chief Financial Officer, I returned to graduate school to pursue my life-long passion to work with school-aged children. I completed my Masters in Education in School Counseling with High Distinction from Liberty University.  Prior to arriving at Las Flores Middle School, I completed a School Counseling internship with Capistrano Unified School District at San Clemente High School, Kinoshita Elementary and Hidden Hills Elementary schools.  During my Masters Program, I also volunteered with the RH Dana Special Needs Facility.  Since 2008, I have worked as an Independent Educational Consultant assisting high school students with college admissions and planning and currently volunteer as a mentor to school counseling students.  I have a California Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) credential in School Counseling.  I have also coached swimming with British swimming clubs and worked with summer league and high school teams in California.  I am excited to be part of the Las Flores Middle School Guidance team assisting students with setting and meeting their goals in academic, social/emotional, and career development.

I am the proud parent of three sons. We lived overseas in England for eight years where my sons were educated in the British School system and where we spent our holidays traveling to over 25-30 countries.  My oldest graduated from California Lutheran University as a 4 year Varsity Athlete/Captain of the swimming team with a BS in Exercise Science and is pursuing a graduate degree in education and his teaching credential. He currently works as a teaching assistant for Adapted Kinesiology courses at Saddleback College and is completing his student teaching at San Juan Hills High School this Fall.  My middle son graduated Magna Cum Laude from the world renown Berklee College of Music with a B.S. in Music Production and Engineering and a minor in Acoustics and Electronics and now lives in Nashville, Tn. My youngest graduated from Stanford University in 2016 where he majored in Material Science Engineering with a focus in Bioengineering. He currently lives and works in the San Francisco Bay area as a Product Analytics Manager.  My personal experience with my own children has provided me with a wide variety of college experiences that I'm happy to share with parents and students alike.

The California Colleges Guidance Initiative is a non-profit program which manages California's official college and career planning platform California

California is a free resource that offers educators, students from middle school through college and their families a platform to research career interests and colleges that may fit your interests and needs. Through the use of career assessments and general planning tools, students may investigate a variety of careers and college options. They may also use the useful links to apply to Cal State Apply (the website for students applying to California State Universities), CCC Apply (website to register for California Community Colleges), and FAFSA (the financial aid application website for federal financial aid). The website offers guides and planning tools which students may download and they may also save their thoughts on general careers and colleges in a journal, create a checklist and track their progress, etc.
